Why am I seeing inconsistencies with Investigational Drugs and Clinical Trials data?

There are a number of reasons you might be noticing gaps and inconsistencies:

Early Phases

We're currently evaluating how well we're doing at linking drugs in earlier phases, like Phase 1 and Phase 2 trials, to see where we can make improvements.

Phase 3 Trials

Right now, we manage to link 80% of interventions to the correct drugs in Phase 3 trials, but we're continuously working to improve our coding and linking processes.

Intervention Gaps in Phase 4 Trials

About 20% of interventions in Phase 4 trials might not be linked properly to drugs. This usually happens with placebo interventions or clinical trial entries with poorly entered or formatted data.

Common Linking Challenges

  • Vaccines: The way vaccines are named can often be unclear, which makes it hard to link them correctly.

  • Chemotherapy Regimens: Complex treatments, like the Folfox regimen, often don’t get linked properly because of their complexity.

  • Brand Names: If a trial only uses a brand name without detailed drug information, it might not link correctly until the brand is officially approved.

  • Complex Formatting and Typos: Mistakes in how trial data is formatted can also lead to linking errors.

Scheduled Improvements

  • Our goal is to achieve 100% coverage and accuracy when it comes to linking drugs to clinical trials, across all phases of drug development in the future. In the near term, we are working on ensuring that all new trials are linked with high accuracy.

  • You will see a continuous improvement in coverage as you use the product, but if you come across any gaps that you would like us to prioritize please reach out.
