Why are some company names missing or listed differently in search results?
Why can’t I find certain company names?
Right now, we support a normalized company concept for about 700 of the top organizations sponsoring clinical trials. This means we’ve grouped and standardized these companies to account for things like mergers, acquisitions, and name variations. We’re actively expanding this work to build a comprehensive, global list of normalized pharmaceutical companies. If there is a particular company or organization you would like to see prioritized please let us know.
What about searching by synonyms?
We haven’t yet implemented filtering and matching company names based on synonyms.
Why do some companies have multiple variations of their name?
During clinical trials and early-stage investigation company names may be listed under a wide range of variations. This can cause a lot of confusion about who the actual sponsor lead is.
To reduce this confusion, we’re standardizing company names across our database. So far, we’ve cleaned and standardized the structure of about 90% of company name entries—that’s 832,765 out of 924,979 total records.
This cleanup work ensures consistency in how names appear, while the separate “normalized company concept” layer links all those variations back to their primary company identity.
